DREW AND KWAKU

My first piece of animation for Kwaku Alston has been released. It was a quick project completely shot in one day.

Thanks a ton to Sara Swaty for all the help and guidance.

THE LAST YEAR

So, before I get into the summer, here is a quick video update of what I finished last semester at AAU in San Francisco.

Machined my first armature:

Made an experimental film:

Updated my Demo Reel:

I've been in LA doing an internship with Screen Novelties, trying to get to know Stoopid Buddy and hanging out with photographers.   At Screen, I got to help out on a secret project that hasn't been released yet so I will have to update later, as well as the Spongebob Christmas Special.

I have also met some animation heroes of mine including; Max Winston and Pendleton Ward.

When I wasn't at Screen, I was working with Kwaku Alston on a quick stop motion short (I will release it on here soon).  As well as some friends of his doing editing and reenactment for a murder case and helping out Hippo Works with some things as well.

An armature I fabricated and animated:

Endless Adjustments

Here are my midterm and final projects for Color and Design taken during the summer semester. The Tyson is based on a photo while the Mandala is an original design. Both done in gauche, which has proven to be an enjoyable medium.  I only wish it lent itself better to endless adjustments so I can perfect my colors.

New Demo

So I heard back from Shadow Machine.  They are still deciding who to place in their internship over the summer.  To help my chances, I decided to update my reel.  I've actually done quite a bit in the past 4 months, more then average I feel.  We have our independent short on the way, and I worked on a music video for a friend, not to mention 20 hours a week of flash animation, which I took out of my reel.

The Gates Here Are Gold

I am living in San Francisco.  This city changes you.  It's so hopeful here, to prove it, I have updated my 'to do list' from Oakville:

The school here is okay so far.  I know there are some great teachers, but I did not get the chance to switch to them earlier in the semester.  The tutoring at Sheridan really helped to show how to teach yourself, so that's pretty much what's going on.

There was a friend from Oakville who blew me away so hard that I was literally discouraged from drawing for a few months.  Luckily(as with gas) it passed.

Now I'm animating the intro to my demo reel.  I really want to just graduate and start working, or at least intern for some people (like this increasingly interesting person http://vimeo.com/7466309).

cities

Here are some pictures from a recent trip to nyc. Rochester has been great. Its a little mind boggling sometimes how often this little city surprises me. Our trip to ny was good as well, and a couple friends were given opportunities that can't help but bring upon motivation to strive for a little more. Otherwise, we've been working on some stop motion, and in August, I will be departing to San Francisco.
